About
Giving families with a terminally ill child more time together to make memories.
Who We Are
Dr. Dan Trotman and Stephanie Miller were owners of a hospice company in 2009. Their hospice group was one of the few in the Birmingham area that accepted pediatric patients. During their time with Hospice Complete they saw the need for families with a terminally ill child to have support in the form of financial assistance, daily tasks, emotional support, etc. They also saw that there was no group or company that existed to provide this support to these families.
In July of 2009, Tonya and David Willingham were told that their then 2 month old daughter, Hanna, had Spinal Muscular Atrophy Type 1. This would be the Willingham’s second child with SMA Type 1. Piper Willingham had went to heaven on January 26, 2006 after a 5 month battle with SMA. In November of 2009 Hanna was placed on Hospice with Hospice Complete. After meeting with Dr. Trotman, Stephanie, and Tonya all parties agreed that there needed to be an organization that could step in to help families with day to day menial tasks to give families more time together. In May of 2010 The Wings of Hope Pediatric Foundation was born.
